White Mod – Development

Into July with new bags of candies

by Nandeep Mali on Jul.03, 2009, under Progress Reports

So we have entered July with whole bunch of tasks in our hands.

Bob did some magnificent work over the last week and got the code revamped. He basically got it all in one package and improved some camera stuff that had been long pending. We’ll be looking into various other code related tasks this month as I progress my knowledge of UnrealScript under the tutelage of Bob.

Our meeting last week culminated with lots of work in the hands of the mapping team and the art department. The mappers will need to redo quite a bit of stuff due to package changes. Our 3Dartists are on the go with models and textures churning out. Roland, our audio engineer has been drafting some fantastic ambient sounds for our maps which should make it in this release.

As for myself, the lead of the no man’s land is back in this business with a new computer and new list of tasks. I am installing and updating the code repository as I write this. So to compensate for my absence, I’ll give a bag of virtual cookies to anyone who guesses the name of our next release (am sure most of you have figured out the pattern by now).

Gear up!

Housekeeping

by Bob Chatman on Jun.19, 2009, under Progress Reports

I have just completed a late spring cleaning session for the website, and it feels great to see things go from such disarray to the clean state they are in currently. So much nicer than otherwise and so little to worry about.

  • Added Austin Lewis to our team page, and removed a couple extraneous email forwards
  • Some minor spelling corrections (proof reading)
  • Added the link on the right to our current release
  • as well as some other minor tasks that had been snowballing

Austin is proving to be an interesting character and we are quite proud to have him. He is joining our 3D Artistry team and we hope he chooses to stick around after the Phase 4 submission as well.

Our IRC channel is growing in popularity, we now have 3 extra developers present and sharing their time and thoughts with us. It definitely helps with finding the momentum to keep going when your community is present.

Not Releasing Hana

by Bob Chatman on May.31, 2009, under Progress Reports

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen,

Good news is, We are still progressing. Bad news is that we are not going to be releasing tomorrow. Our mod has taken some serious leaps over the months, but we need to take a step back and clean up the source code and do some work networking the hell out of it. Currently things are a shambles and that doesn’t help our lack of a web community. The UT3 Mod communities on the whole are lacking, so its not much of a surprise.

As of today we are all heading back to the drawing board. The code is getting a full rewrite and structuring and I will do what I can to have a better working version of the game ready to go come July 1st.

=) Wish us luck below!
